Amblyopad: The technology behind the efficacy

Through a unique partnership with Ubisoft—a multinational video game development company—Amblyotech has developed interactive games specifically designed and clinically proven to optimize visual acuity using both eyes.

How It Works

Different visual stimulation is sent to each eye, promoting the brain to interpret the correct visual input. The brain is then stimulated to develop accurate visual response with the affected eye, which in turn provides a therapeutic response. Over the course of treatment, the patient’s brain correctly interprets the visual stimulation provided to both eyes, dramatically improving 3-dimensional (3D) functionality and visual acuity.

Individualized for each patient

Individual parameters, determined by the patient’s ophthalmologist or optometrist, optimize treatment. The application is calibrated for severity of the disorder. Patients will then proceed with the actual treatment on their own—at home, in the car, after school, or wherever they go.

Effective, with a dose of entertainment

The Amblyotech Amblyopad is currently undergoing a robust clinical investigation program:

  • Completed clinical studies with more than 500 patients, several of which were National Eye Institute (NEI)-sponsored Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG) studies
  • Additional studies investigating new game versions in pediatrics, adolescents, and adults with amblyopia to start in 2017-1018
